Blue plastic is a a chatter silencer. By design the slip joint allows for different angle rotation. DO NOT REMOVE!

drive shaft dampening material

Post by Kurt Lesser » Thu Aug 03, 2006 9:53 am

You can use a material called Red Glyptol to replace this stuff. It's available in electronic shops as a high voltage arcing preventer made by CG chemicals and also in engine rebuild shops. Racers used to coat their engine blocks with it inside to seal up all the porosities in the castings and make the oil flow better

Thanks for the info..........I did use a little torch, and it did come apart easier......still was tight. I had to take it apart to get the hanger bearing off to replace it along with the dust cover. :D
