m1151 on epay

Post by Action » Fri Mar 02, 2018 7:15 pm

have you guys seen this?
Is this one of us selling it?

I noticed a couple things...
no rear diff cooler cover,
oil on left rear brake guard, possibly star washer?,
Is this only a muffler, and no CAT?,
Are the brake lines just hanging there?,
you forgot the "slinky" on the starter cables,
you forgot the plastic covers for the airlift hoop rubbers,
you forgot the brace between the airlift towers,
you missed a spot above the RH headlight when painting (still tan),
EWWW shiny bolts on the frame,
are those square airlift hoops welded on or original?,
wrong "P" clamps along hoses under w/s,
wrong hose clamps on radiator hoses (should be the springy constant tension style),
what is the fording switch connected to? There is no fording kit on this (look at CDR valve),
does it have the newer style slave plug? since this is titled as a 1985?

Sorry to nitpick, but for $119,500, I will look at it very carefully.

Jason

Are the steering parts still from 1985? Which steering gear box?
Did the m115x series ever use the solid rotors? I thought they were only on m111x.
Is the brake hydroboost and cylinder from 1985 or 12k rated?
I do not see the proportioning valves, eith.

Speaking of brakes......Could this be a legal issue if the seller puts on a data plate with a GVWR of 12,100#, and it is actually still 7,700#. Would they be liable if there is an accident involving injury due to brake failure if a new owner has 4,000# too much weight on it?

Not my truck but what is the story on the chassis bolts? When I took off the old bumper parts on my 92 hmmwv a lot of the large bolts I took off had flaking chips that fell off. They looked like normal gold bolts once the carc flaked off.

I just personally like the original grey cadmium coated hardware. I don't like all the shiny bolts. And like you found out, paint doesn't stick to them.

I built that truck...it’s funny to read the nit picking.
Unpainted bolts on the chassis, wet spots, paint...Jason, your not buying this truck anyway.
But have you ever actually built a truck like this from the ground up? The costs entailed?
Some of the “observations” were customer directed, such as to CARC the chassis after assy or not, but more often then not, buyers prefer it this way, that and the powder coated frame rails.
The braking is 10.3k, but has solid rotors, meaning 12k, plus the correct 12k Halfshaftss and all drive train components.

Paint sticks fine....it’s normally due to poor preparation before Paint. Try wiping the bolt head with acetone before Paint, does wonders. The bolts you refer too are called “armor coat”, and they are expensive as hell.
We only use Grade 8 with Grade C cap nuts throughout.

I didn't mean to offend you. I just like details.

And, YES, I have a 2007 m1152 REV that was blown up on purpose to see how well the new chassis style held up to IEDs. I rebuilt it, just no armor.

RWH, would you like me to remove my original post?

I’m not offended....I just thinks it’s petty, this is just par for the course these days.
I could answer each question but I don’t see any reason too as your not buying the truck.
Anyone who has built one of this type knows this truck is actually priced right....as that about what’s into it when you have someone build it for you. Just add up the M1151 armor, slantback kit, interior, OEM 4 man AC, motor package, subcomponent Paint and assy. 95% of this truck is New from AM General.
