Camber adjustment advice

Post by kserumgard » Sat Feb 17, 2018 1:28 pm

Just need some advice,
How do you start with the camber adjustment? My fronts were overly positive.
I already removed the driver side front wheel, upper A-arm, all the shims. The shims were very corroded. I bought some new shims from macmotors, both the thick and thin.
I’m a little confused because the TM says to get “0” camber all I need to do is shim the front/rear.

Got that part.
Seems that there are a lot of shims.
How many shims are typically in position?
Thanks for the reply Jason

Number and thickness of shims is dependent on load. Consider changing shocks, springs and ball joints prior to camber adjustment. It's hard say how many you need. It is a PIA to set. Rears are worse.

the TM tells you what thickness shim will change what degree of camber. Figure out how many degrees you want to lose and take that out.

I was looking at my buddy’s M1151 and he only has one shim in each location front and rear.

Tire shops put vehicles on machines to do alignment. If every vehicles just needed the same thing, there would be no reason for the machine. We can do ours without the machine. Just follow the directions in the book.

And, where did your buddy find an m1151 ?

I noticed the rear shims on mine are totally different in the rear.
Passenger side rear has two shims and inserted differently
Driver side, one shim inserted from the top.
