Story on this extended Nose?

Post by dilvoy » Sat Jan 06, 2018 10:26 pm

Anyone know anything about it like who made it or if it was an AM General item?

It was made by BAE the hood has removable corners as well, AMG had that on some Prototypes.
There was also a regular hood that was like this I posted a picture here on the G also from the inside…
I break it, I fix it!

Plus it is a M1114 up armored with Phase II A.C. kit installed. Early 12k (round air lift tower bars), Shepard box and MT radials (lots of weight!).

Does the M1114 ever had the Sheppard steering gear?
All M1114 has the round hooks don‘t they?

Yup. Clarke has a humvee chassis assy with the M1114 brakes and the sheppard box and giant idler arm. I guess that would make it a late ECV that was close to but below the 300,000 serial number.

Is that nose a solid piece? Or, am I seeing things?

Yes it is not built like the typical type. That's why I asked the question about it. The typical ones, maybe I just have early ones that were made from grill/light sockets cut from standard hoods, need trimming on the back side of the top part so they can be shimmed and bolted in place firmly. This one looked to be so nice and simple.

It looks a different shade of tan, like it was put on later.
It seems very thin where the mesh is in the 7 slots (almost like sheet metal).
Also, the top of the hood hinge has something flat on the front.
