Weight Savings

Post by Action » Mon Jan 01, 2018 4:41 pm

I can't find my post from long ago, if I did one. But, here are 2 of the brackets that came on one of my REV frames. Would it really make a difference on a 12+k HMMWV ?

The regular alternator bracket weighs about 26.5 #.
The holy one weighs about 18#.
The mounting bolt holes in the holy one are bigger, but it worked great for the last 4 years.

I don't have a regular engine bracket for comparison. And, I know that I will need to replace my propshaft bearing soon.

I have the brackets for both 200, and 400 amp's.
The only difference is a bigger hole for the long bolt.
Never seen one like that holey one.
I have those bearings if needed.

Both of these lighter brackets have the normal part numbers on them.

Here is a better pic of the left engine mounting bracket...

Hey Jason always interesting to see wht they tried to bat they closed the plant for the prototypes near detroit.
The engine Bracket is normally
out of sheet metal your's is mad out of cast iron I know they also changed the front spring mounts from sheet metal to a cast iron style.
