Hoping someone can help me out. I’m working on removing the early style dash defroster. I’m not sure if I’m fighting against the sealant that was used or additional fasteners. I see a row of screws underneath. Are those just holding the doghouse bracket or do they go through the defroster as well?

Re: dash defroster removal
They go through the green duct as well. Once removed, swing the bottom of the green tube towards you up towards the roof. It may help to squeeze the green tube.
If you want to get to the plastic defrost ducts to replace hoses or whatever, You will also need to remove some small screws from the other side of the windshield. There is a flat piece of metal with some black padding on it. Once that panel is removed, you can access the driver defrost hose and duct.
That piece you are trying to remove isn't for defrost. It runs over to a hose for driver's feet.
