4L80E Flexplate/Torque Converter Gap

Post by dodgemain » Sun Jun 04, 2017 11:38 am

Hi,
I am in the process of swapping in a 4L80E into my M998 with a 6.2 engine. Yesterday I finally bolted the trans into place. I was surprised to see a roughly 3/16" gap between the flexplate and the torque converter. Can I just slide the torque converter forward to meet the flexplate? Or, do I have the wrong torque converter?
Thanks

Yes, that is normal, unless the center hub of the torque converter is allready in contact with the rear of the crankshaft.

You should give that old flex plate a good look around bolt holes....they are prone to have hairline cracks.

Is the flex plate for the turbo 400 trans even compatible with the 4L80E?
