Here is a photo clearly showing the spring socket area on the latest LCA. Big spring will fit into it nicely.

Thanks a George - so visually its the end view of the ball joint socket that shows the gen 1 vs gen 2 / gen 3 difference. And the spring pockets of Gen 1 don't fit the thicker rear springs like the variable rates?

The latest lowers have no round hole on lower side for jack pin.
And the ball joint holes are for 7/16'' bolts.

Re: Desperate Need of Help
I only found out many years ago that the VR Springs won't fit by trying to install them on a restoration I was doing.
I finally gave in and just installed new LCA's..then the springs went right on. I tried and compared the spring pockets on both...my tired eyes could not really see a difference, but it's enough that the lower spring will never seat fully,

Re: Desperate Need of Help
Thanks for all of the replies guys...truly helped a ton. I've got two springs/shocks installed. Just took a little work with the jack and chain around the frame. The jack came off the ground slightly but was able to manipulate the process to get them in just fine. I'll get some pictures up one of these days to show the progress of the rebuild.
