Ecv hood change over

Post by 04mustang » Tue Mar 21, 2017 5:19 am

I recently got all the needed parts to physically change over my old m998 hood to the ecv type. I need some advice on how to make it electrically work though.
From what im reading in the manuals, the ecv fixed nose is powered throught the body harness and the hood connects on eash side through plugs. And on the m998 the whole hood is powered by one plug connection on the drivers side.
My parts confirm this about the ecv wiring as it has a large section of the nody harmess hanging off that has been cut.
My question is that how would you make this conversion all work?
My inital thoughts are to cut the hood plug off of the old hood and wire it into the ecv nose so that the conversion is plug and play with the old m998 body harness plug.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks,
Corey

That's going to be the least expensive way. The ECV harness is quite different from the 998 in that there are sensor connections in the ECV body harness for the engine, which are normally in the engine harness of the 998. I'd just make extensions for your existing lighting circuit.

And....the ECV body harness is about $1800, then you still need the hood jumpers for the lighting, which can be hard to find, plus a pile of work to install.
