That and the connectors they chose are so expensive they could only be bought by the government! I've tried to get them off of my taillight without success several times. Soaked them with Kroil, tried heat, nothing worked. That and I've never been able to find a wrench that fits the retaining rings on the connectors.

Where did you find the box and are there any more for sale? That is the key to finding connectors or having some made.

The special connector on the light is crazy expensive and stainless.
The thing that is hard or impossible is getting a wiring diagram.

I just saw (what I assume) was the same taillight with the bent connector back up for sale on Fleabay or the like. Now that I know what it is, I need a set! Hopefully someone finds a hack to wire them up or the boxes finally hit the civi market.

That's the diagram that was posted originally but can't see anymore thanks to photobucket. A more specific pin out diagram to go along with the wiring is what is needed. Plus finding the control box.

If that image on the screen is from that camera sensor, then its not thermal.

I just opened one of these up and the smaller connector is for the driving lighting only. In the inside of the connector are five wires. they look like aircraft wiring with a woven shield of stainless wires within each wire case. All five wires go to places where there are the Military M Series numbers for the function, except for one which has "GND" instead of 24. I think the wires could be clipped at the inside of the connector and "normal" wires attached so this could be hooked up to an existing M Series Vehicle. The larger connector is for the Camera and Motor for the lens cover. The lens motor uses two wires so maybe it is just one of those setups that when you reverse polarity, it runs the opposite direction. There are a total of 14 wires used on the connector for the camera and lens cover. How to make that work, I have no idea though.

I finally got around to wiring up the light portion of this thing and found that there is no dim and bright feature to the running and brake/turn lights. The dim running lights are just fewer leds lit up. Three to be exact.

Here is the bright light operation. The photos show them to be blurry, but they are clearly individual leds and are super bright. You can get a welders flash for a few minutes if you get up close and look into them. I don't know how usable this will be with any other light on the other side having a very light signature on the dim lights. I may not run this as my left tail light, because of this.

Here's maybe a better shot of the running lights. For some reason I could not do better than this. Just three leds in a row are lit. Any other light is just reflections. The LED's are so bright that they emit a glow around them so they are hard to photograph.

I was finally able to get mine opened up with a set of surgical bone nippers and found the same things you have. The motor for the shutter and the lights are a no brainer, now all we have to do is come up with some of the other components and the cables. If we can figure out how the camera controls and signals work the cabling won't be that big a problem. I've tried contacting several BAE sites but no one seems to know anything about these tail lights. If we find the right division we might be able to get some useful info. Either that or we need to get a control box and do some reverse engineering.
