Back in the '90s, a friend of mine bought a bunch of humvees. The demil requirement varied greatly depending on where he was and even just who was making him do it at the time. Some just had to have the crossmembers cut. Some had the body cut at the a-pillar or b-pillar. Usually it was a part that could be replaced. I recall him saying that a woman drove over one and crushed the body with a dozer.

Here's the kicker in the contract: Demilitarization must be accomplished by completely destroying material in accordance with the approved Demil plan.

If you look online there are several different demill plans out there from the DOD and DLA. And as we've seen more often than not, they GL/DRMO yards all seem to have their own individual interpretation of these plans anyway, so what gets approved at the bid location and what happens at the demil location may not be the same thing.

What ever happens here though, if the scrapper turns out to be concientious about his operations there could be a wealth of great parts available to us, the lowly end users who paid for it all in the first place...............

To give an update I found 150 more HMMWV's heading to the scrap. I was visiting a unit and they were tasked to remove all Como equipment and place into conex inserts for DRMO auction and the vehicle's would be following. Again what a waste of our history.

At French camp there are a couple of hmmwv's right now in the locked cage area with a sign that says demil area....stacks of brand new doors as well. The guy there says those never come over to DRMO area....he says they come and go.

I can't tell but it looks like it's just the "improved" version of the Contact truck shelter. The tall ones were getting too much attention so all the new ones are about 2' shorter.
