NEWS! Am I being stupid? (LED Signals)

Post by STUDENT-DRIVER » Sat Aug 23, 2008 8:38 am

Hey guys today I installed my LED directional signals in the front.
I had the LED's in the read already they worked fine. Now after I put the front ones in place the flashing dosen't work while the lightswitch is in service drive. Not in the front and not in the rear.
I know ther must be a resistor some where. But where and what size?

I'm confused.

HELP ME

Some guys use a standard light bulb inline to draw current from the flasher. They put it where it can't be seen.
I do not know about the resistor setup.

Which bulb? To find out the size shouldn't be the problem they put it in series?
But were in the flashing signal on all 4?
By the by the way very smart puting a bulb in series  if the bulb is broken … why they got LED's?

Student, I think the only thing that the Humvee needs is to have an Electronic Flasher installed to make the led lights flash.

flasher

Post by Hell On Wheels » Sat Aug 23, 2008 12:59 pm

Student driver,
Dilvoy "George" is correct, an electronic flasher needs to be installed along with any upgrade LED lamps. I did a complete change out and had the factory send me a free flasher unit, being the LEDs are expensive, that is the lease Trucklite could have done. The LEDs draw very low voltage and amps compared to incandescent lamps.

In the future, if you retrofit with Grote lights, you will have no problems whatsoever. I put in the from and read LED from Grote (bough individually, without the whole lighting case) and they worked perfectly--flashing and all.

I know grote has special HMMWV models but I don't like them. The grote lights look a kind of cheap.

I agree Alex, the Trucklite units are much better quality than the Grote.
More LED`s and not so much plastic.
Below is the number of the recommended flasher unit from Kascar, If you
are prepared to spend $161.02

97315 Flasher Unit
Required for proper system operation.
$161.02

Yea I saw that but these are special military sales as you can read at the buttom. They also have the headlights :)

But It would take to much time with shipping on or two maybe 3 weeks I don't know how quick he is.
Anybody here with the right flasher and a quick shipping?

Alex, try emailing trucklite as I did and they will ship out much faster. In the states I received it in two days for free, maybe you can dress up the issue and they might send it to you for free. Worth the effort or even having a backup! I see your out of Germany, do you know anybody or buddy with an APO? There is an opition.

Good luck

It's flashing!
Hey guys thanks for your help I put the resistors parallel to the flashing section on each direction signal. But I think 4Watts are a little bit to weak 15W were better. We'll see when the truck burns down or the resistor burn off
I'll call trucklite and ask for the price and shipping.
