What was wrong with it? Did you decide to arbitrarily take the tranny apart just to see what's inside?? Or, did you go swimming again? HAHAHA

So what did the problem end up being Alex?

$7,000 would have bought you a couple of new transmissions...
Cheers

I spent money for a valve body seal kit, new sensors, new internal wiring harness, new TCM, 2 new control chips for the TCM, a overhauling of my old transmission, a new torque converter, transport of my truck, oil, and finally a new overhauled transmission :-D
Next time I'll overhaul the transmission by my self or give it to a company that has an own transmission test bench.

Congrats on being rollin' again! I got my new 4l80E in a few months ago as well-but it was as straight factory rebuild with new TC.

Its 100% mechanical, as in; no computer or wiring or electronics. The only thing externally electrical (outside teh transmission) on the 4l80E 6.5 TD HMMWV is the control box under the rear drivers seat (waterproof), brake switch, input and output VSS and TPS.

Actionpaintball, It looks like they put in the Turbo engine into your Humvee and then did the body lift sometine later.

I noticed the machined "step as well (is that what you are talking about?) I just assumed at one time they may have been machining the parts to try and retrofit without and body lift compensation? The entire drivetrain is stamped/tagged 1998...but who knows what year the turbo components are...I just got this truck spring '07

Ya I can only think that modified step could only be for that. Is that turbo blanket factory made or a home made job? I have never found that in any AMG parts manuals.
So Student, is driving your Humvee as fun as you remember it being?
