camo nets
Does anyone have a pic of the new style radar scattering woodland camo net opened up? I saw one today new in the plastic wrap for $150. He opened it up for me. It looks like one giant piece of burlap with pieces attached to it. It does not have the "fishnet" material like the ones I have. It is supposed to be the same dimensions as the older sets and still be radar scattering, but there is no room to open it up there. It is at a flea market that is only here until tomorrow night.

It's called ULCANS.. Ultra Lightweight Camoflage Net System It has a "fine net" backing (when compared to the old fish net stuff) with the "camo" sewn ontop of the net an continuous S pattern. $150 is a steal for a complete set. The fine net works pretty well for keeping bigger flying bugs out. Sabb Baracuda and GMA Cover Corp manufactures it. It is MUCH easier to put up, and doesnt snag on everything when putting it up and taking it down.
here is a picture of the desert version.

He only had one set here, and I got it. I may hang on to it for a bit. I should be able to get more new sets the weekend of Sept 13. He told me that he may have 6 or 7 more available.
This pic is of the repair kit. (25 sq ft in one piece.
The large pieces attach to each other with loops that pass thru each other down the line and the last one gets tied off. To seperate them, just untie the one knot and pull the pieces apart. So, no ropes or clips to lose.
The net set weighs about 48 pounds.
BTW. I see that GMA Cover is hiring at the net plant in Port Huron, Mi.

I like the older nets, because I just throw them on something and the wind never takes them away. No tieing necessary, because they always seem to hook somewhere.

You've been busy since I was up at the farm 2 months ago George!dilvoy wrote:The old style in use.
Who could ever guess that there might be a WWII Jeep hidden beneath?
That cover looks much better than parachutes

I would have guessed a PT boat or similar under that.
I had about f of the hexagons hooked up and raised in the front yard for a month or so. I never thought to get a pic of them. The opening allow the sun to get thru and not kill the grass, but dad hated moving around the poles and stakes. I wonder if the new style would let much light thru?
Speaking of parachutes, I am going skydiving for the first time this Thursday. Hopefully the weather will be decent.

Jason, I could give you one of my chutes if you need one. It has a 72 food diamater and unless the out of date canopy tears or the expired ropes snap, you'll be guaranteed to float for miles and miles and if you land very far off, the camo color of the canopy will make rescue difficult.
