Hi Wayne,

I'm not sure that there are any specifically for the Humvee.
I think they are for the civvy truck only.
They will fit the humvee, but if you have the earlier (thinner) centre link, then you will have to stacka couple of washers on top of the centrelink to space the castleated nut up so the split pin will fit in one of the slots.

Cheers

re: moog parts

I spoke to the parent company of Moog, trying to get at some parts so as not to have to pay premium. They told me that their distributors(ie-O'Reilly Auto Parts) are not allowed to carry them. They said they only sell them to AM General. The idler arm, PN 12340016 should be dirt cheep now, as govliquidation just sold about 3000 of them for around $4ea. I am sure though, that they will remain around $75 for now. Look around, many of the guys here can square you away forily quickly. Balljoints, by the way, can be bought from NAPA, as can the Halfshafts. Cheers!

Moog Problem Solver suspension components

Post by gizip » Thu Feb 07, 2008 6:31 am

Brad and Brian, thanks for your replies. Yes, I have used these before and had to use the washer trick on the center link. The Moog Problem solver is such an improvment over the original part that it is worth the premium in cost. I had used Kascar and Paul at myhumvee.com but was trying to avoid the high costs. Does anyone know where to buy these Moog super heavy duty parts made for civilian H1 trucks without paying double for them? Wayne Walker

If you need a civy part, I can get it cheaper than retail.

Which idler are you looking for?

This is a 2001, 5745340....
Image

1993, 6004839. NO PIC. Kascar has this listed as heavy duty.

1995,1996 6004839. NO PIC. Kascar has this listed as heavy duty.

The 1995 year had different parts......

NOTE 1:spacer p/n 6006711 is required with idler arm p/n 6004839 and steering arm p/n 6004838 if the vehicle is equipped with center link p/n 12338622.

NOTE 2:center link p/n 12338622 has a 0.798" - 0.838" thick boss for the idler and steering arms.

NOTE 3:center link p/n 6003868 has a 1.00" - 1.040" thick boss for the idler and steering arms.

Jason, the one I am looking for is the photo you inserted. I have the thicker center link on this vehicle. Kascar was $149, Paul was $99, so I was simply trying to purchase through a auto parts store or distributor to save money. What can you sell it for? zip code is 22560 thanks, Wayne Walker

5745340 has been replace with 5745558.
Kascar is $178.18.
Retail is $160.39.
I could go $145 for a new kit including delivery.
And, the order can be placed with AMG within 24 hours of payment. (except Sundays)
I can't beat Paul's price. That is below dealer cost.

Wayne,

Have you seen the new XHD pitman and idlers from Rubber Duck?
http://www.rubberduck4x4.com/
Travis at Rubber duck does great products and he has released a new XHD kit.
Its $550 plus a $200 core. But if he's done a good job, it could be the last ones you buy.

Check out the kit under H1 products or in the new products page.

I'm thinking about getting a set for my truck as my idler has worn after just over a year.

All the usual disclaimers (not associated blah, blah)

Cheers

Brad, the website for the Rubber duck parts is neat, shows the CNN H1. Is this the vehicle that brought so much money at auction? Is the idler on your truck that only lasted a year one of the Moog civilian parts like the photo that Jason posted? I replaced the pitman arm today and fixed my problem, it was trashed, vehicle was wandering bad. Thanks, Wayne Walker

Hi Wayne,

The one that has worn is the original style Civvy one (one up from an early Humvee one).
I have a Moog Pitman on my truck.
Its been on ther for 5 years and is still going strong.
I have replaced 1 idler before, so that makes 2idlers worn in the same time.

Ozhumvee and I have been talking this issue over and have been considering trying to rebuid an idler with bronze bushes istead of the standard rubber material.
I wonder if this is what Travis has done in his XHD idlers...

Cheers
