Just a heads up...two of our guys have inquired about arriving on Tuesday, the 18th only to be told their spaces were being used. One was told that 11:00am would be the check in time for his spot on Wed, the 19th.which is what we had booked them for originally.

I would suggest that the loose arrivals we enjoyed at TP-KOA are a thing of the past....so if you have a four day rezzy for the 18th in and the 22nd our for instance....do not assume that you can arrive a day early or stay a day later without checking on that!

It's a more popular campground than Tower Park. Contact Jo-Ann about issues like that. On the days of our event, she controls, meaning knows, who is camping where. Outside of our event, KOA does their thing. I think our official days are Tuesday night through Saturday night but it might go Sunday night to Sunday night as far as KOA is concerned.

One solution is simply take an available campsite for the extra day or two, meaning relocate.

I posted some detailed driving directions over on the EVENTS forum in the Camp Petaluma thread. If you have a map handy it should be pretty simple to understand.

Does anyone know how the WIFI is at Petaluma ? Better?,Worse?, or expect same as Tower Park?

(Tower Park was dismal, so I always have to bring a hotspot)

Answering my own question because I called the office - The WIFI is standard (not high speed) for getting your email, or surfing the web. It will not work well for streaming video's or a large up/download(s). Cell phone service (signal) is good there.

SO, what are the official check in/check out times for those who have reservations?

Reality might be different than what is published. This will be a learning experience for everybody. It is also a more popular place than Tower Park at this time of year.

Day visitors, people with large MVs, big rigs, and those with vehicles that will not fit in your campsite should read the UPDATED Basic Training info here: http://www.mvccnews.net/petaluma_spring.html
We'll have room for everybody!

Be prepared to peg the FUN METER at the fourth venue for the Big Spring Meet!

Thanks Goldhill for commenting on my GSD.

That was Zorn Von Bergstrom. He was my Patrol Partner for almost 8 years. Loved catching bad guys and tracking lost people or fleeing suspects. Not to mention he was not scared at all of repelling out of a Helicopter... Can't say as I know of anything Zorn was not scared of.. including me. I miss him.

Returned from the Spring Petaluma event today. Really liked the event, and the location was very nice. Sounds like some kinks to be worked out, but that's always the case when change occurs. I was too busy having fun to notice any issues. And wow...came home with more funds than I took down...that's a first, or was that a mistake? 8)

Only problem was that someone didn't get to make the trip this year. Next year!:

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who worked so hard to organize the Petaluma event. We arrived on Tuesday afternoon and left yesterday morning and had a GREAT time! We were able to see a bunch of old friends and make some new ones. When discussing it at dinner last night we realized that we were busy the entire time and a bit wiped out from our vacation :). Shopping for the MV, the convoy, a Huey ride, trips in the MV to Sebastapol and Petaluma to visit local yarn stores (must pay the piper!) and enjoy dinner and ice cream were all great fun. We had a blast!!!!!!!!!

Thanks,

Andy

I, too, would like to express my thanks to all on the MVCC board who did a ton of work and a great job at finding a replacement venue. I think there was a lot of comparison of old vs. new going on, but the bottom line is the old camp is no longer viable, so let's move on and look at the positive. I thought the staff was courteous, the grounds well-kept, the cabins newer and nicer, and of course the members and friends great to see as always. It is farther (for me), it is more expensive (what isn't?), but I'm O.K. with that because it is the largest and best MV event in the West (if not the entire U.S.) and it must continue. So thanks MVCC, I had a great time.

im just coming down from my camp petaluma high.it takes about a week. i can honestly say that i had one of the best times i have had since joining the club 14 years ago. the convoy to dillon beach was great, the huey ride was great, the big band on friday night was nice, and the people at the meet looked like they were having a good time as well.i hope to have as much fun next year.what we do need is more army tents out on the grass on the north end,to add to the army bivouac type setting.so if you camped out there like i did, with my two squad tents,if you can,try to bring out the canvas, if you can.if not,it will still work.it did this year.hope to see you( swamp rats) next year.also, lets see if we can get some more reenactors out there and bring their displays. greg l.
