There is some talk about non-US vehicles in April 2015.

What about full tracks AND emergency vehicles next September?

Decisions by tomorrow night so they get listed on the handout next week. Gotta inform the infidels (non-MVCCers).

A lot of great ideas! I loved the WW2 idea, any military vehicle involved in WW2 display? Then one in every era following? This might be a bad idea but I always thought that the display area (where the chopper landed and where previous shows were) would make an excellent olive drab tent city? Nothing but olive drab tents and camping all along the fences and posts and vehicles could come in and out in the center? Then again I know that area is needed for display too so its a toss up? I would like to see another military jeeps display again, I know its been done but there are a lot of new people coming in every year? It would involve MANY more people and vehicles? And a picture of tons of jeeps in one central location makes for AWESOME publicity picture?

OR, in 2015, on Friday, fill the display area with AS MANY military vehicles as possible, like a d day landing, ANY military vehicle with olive drab, fill the entire area! FIT as many as humanly possible!!!!! EVERYTHING! BRING THEM ALL IN! WHAT A PHOTO OP!!!!!!! Smaller vehicles up front, then bigger then bigger! WHAT A SHOT! Fill it all the way to the back fence!!!! THE MORE THE BETTER! One shot with just the vehicles then ONE with all the members and vehicle owners!! Sorry, I know, I get carried away, but I like to go BIG! Think outside the box, GET everyone INVOLVED, make some HISTORY, make some NOISE! Make some Magazines?!

Ok, shut up John...

Good ideas John, keep 'em coming. I've thought about GI tents in the showcase field/LZ and along the rear fence there but with the wood bollards ringing the field it makes it hard to get a lot of MVs in front of the tents. For smaller MV showcases both might fit. If a large showcase then maybe some GI tents would have to go elsewhere. We can have the tents themselves be a big showcase. Sort of like the G.I. Tent Self-Guided Tour we did once at Tower and once at Big Bear but examples of each in the big field, with each one having a nomenclature sign. Owners who set them up but not use them could allow reenactors or others to use them for camping.

KOA might agree to pull some of the bollards for our meet but they are concerned about damage to their new paving job on the path that runs along there. We'd have to put some strong wood on it to protect it.

They are thinking of moving the dog run so they can better use the scenic willow tree area for weddings. This will be good for us.

The showcase field/LZ and the area in front of the pools is the focal point for the meet and should be where our major displays are, in my opinion.

Looks like the April 2015 showcases will be FOREIGN MVs INCLUDING US-MADE MVS IN FOREIGN SERVICE. The other one will be EMERGENCY VEHICLES - FIRE, CRASH, AMBULANCE, MP, WRECKER. These may run concurrently if there is room.

We are going to start doing MV showcases at the September event. This year it will be TRACKED MVs because some Weasel owners have been asking.
LATE UPDATE - Dave Porter is POC.

Sounds Great! ... Your right, that area in front of the pools is an Excellent area for displays as everyone walks that way both ways and drives both ways, educational displays make all the difference. Its a key spot for that sort of stuff! .. KOA moving the dog run is Excellent and in our best interest.

Looking forward to September and of course 2015 MVCC's April Meet!!!

Great idea, now we just have to fit it in somewhere! M38A1C, M170, all that. If M38 people whine maybe we include them too! Greg, and anybody else interested, can you get contact info from whoever you see with these things? Some may not be members and won't see our announcement if we decide to do this someday.

This would be a good showcase for Camp Delta 2016. Maybe at our Convention too!

We'll have more details in the issue #9 newsletter about hopeful KOA improvements, our 2015 plan for dry camping and display locations, and more. Plus we'll talk about these things at the September meet, where by the way the Tracked Vehicles Showcase is on.

i always liked the idea of a lot of army tents in an encampment type setting. with vehicles parked out in front, maybe a motar pit or two. maybe a machine gun nest or two. a display of tents on the edges of the big field ( the LZ delta ) with vehicles parked in the center would be a nice display. people could checkout the vehicles as well as some old army canvas. using the tents as a back drop, you could do different types of show cases. you dont need an army jeep, to park your old army tent. ( just an idea for april 2015 ) g. lalonde.

Tower Park Tent City!

At one of our meets I would love to have a Group picture of EVERYONE and all the military vehicles in one area! Large Group picture would not only get everyone involved BUT LOOK IMPRESSIVE ONLINE! Smaller vehicles up from like motorcycles etc, even artillery if possible, then jeeps etc, 1/2 tons then 3/4 tons then we work our way up! Done right it could look pretty impressive!!!!??? THE MORE the BETTER! Owners or members of the MVCC either sitting in their vehicles or standing near them.

Anyways, just an idea...

Yep. Rule is, the third week of April and September, assuming a week starts on a Sunday.

Newbies reading this please note the first Sunday and Monday for the Fall and Spring meets are for "early birds" and attendance builds as it goes. Last Sunday is a pull-out day, not a show day.
