Hi all,
I bought a nearly finished 1944 WC52 and I am having trouble fitting the rear spring hanger bracket lock bolts. I can't get the bolts to go all the way through the bracket. I don't have the original bolts. The bolts seem to be 3/8 inch, so I have garden variety bolts, but they won't go all the way through. Are they special bolts? The master parts book lists non standard part numbers. The truck is sitting on axle stands, should I jack it up by the chassis? I could drill through the bracket as a last resort.
cheers

Re: WC52 Rear Spring Hanger Lock Bolt
I seem to remember having to deepen the notch on some reproduction shackle pins so as to get the bolts to go through. This can be done with careful use of an angle grinder if necessary. Just don't grind through to the grease channel.
I will also look at the bolt size later today. I have an idea they may be 5/16" diameter.

Wrong about that, the bolts are definitely 3/8".
