Dodge Carryall

Post by halifaxgroup » Tue Nov 14, 2017 4:56 am

I have never seen a wartime picture of a Dodge Carryall with a winch. I assume if one existed it would have a different designation like the WC-51/52 vehicles. So I assume the winch has been added.

Yes, the winch is likely post-war. Not a factory item for a WC53 Carryall.

Looks like a 45 degree angle welded joint :?: on either side of the frame in front of the radiator, so you may be correct.
I have a WC56 I added bolt on extensions to for 57/58 winch mod (I just liked that look, and after years of searching...) bottom of grill had to be cut back to fit the rear winch bracket properly, so I think they modded it a little too far out.

Other noted issues: No wiring harness (totally PVC with crimp connectors); Rear seat is likley gone or he would not have a blanket tossed over it...Rear Headliner falling down; running boards out of diamond plate; battery box bolted through hinge incorrectly; Oval reflectors; bus tailights; Extinguisher mounted outside VS right front kick panel; muffler wrong (oval shoud be round), tailpipe too long; Winch cable width and fairlead/hook incorrect; USA number on front bumper :?: ; no winch hand crank plate; Invasion Star wrong outer circle (and direction);no driver outer door handle (even if you can't open it, there's a handle) Dash missing parts and knobs incorrect; floorboard screws replaced by bolts, passenger map board missing; Antenna but no radio tray; wrong aircleaner/carb; fuel line;

I'd LOVE to have one, especially in Winter for snowy days running out to sled with the family (just a romantic thought, but not worth the slow speed, oil smell, rattling linkages, freezing cold metal panels, lack of egress, lack of traction, lack of great heater, etc. makes for a great brain vacation though.. :) .)

Maybe that's why they are bidding so high, 19K Reserve not met 3hr remains. Now it's worth that, I have no doubt, but it needs a few grand worth of TLC to make it ....better :D

"Pretty" with the above notations... At least it LOOKS like a solid survivor... And all the problems can be rectified...
