On the 1/2 tons, at least the T207s and T211s the engine color was solver from the factory. There are enough production photos out thee that show that

You said your engine is an 1944 replacement, the replacement engines were silver. Ernie is right about about silver on T207 and SOME T211's, I've had original T211's that were gray too. I think possibly when they changed over from 218 ci to 230 ci may have been when they changed to gray. The change occurred during the T211 run.

Your're putting together some nice work there Oz. Some great wiring reference detail.

On the engine color, at least for the half-tons, for some reason I was certain that the engines were silver. Seems like I saw some reference at one time. I'll have to see if I can find anything about that as I am now curious.
Thanks Zeph. Trying to keep pace with your superb work. The important part of this project will be to get the individual lengths correct, at least to make it operational. The PhD will be to recreate It exactly, but I don't want to dig into VWM's chili if you know what I mean. They offer a super product and I realize they have earned the industry's business with research and authenticity. I think in the end this effort will be just a poor man's way to get a realistic looking yet somewhat accurate harness going.

On the color, I look forward to the research, as you say for curiosity. You are right though, the gray does look better.

Color: My engine SN is real close to the engine detailed on the build card that I posted in my resto thread. There were a number of surplus MV sales from the closing Walker AFB in 68 and this one probably came from there with a military replacement engine in 44 . Should be silver then.

If anyone has an original 1/2 ton harness laying around :D I would be happy to post any individual lengths taken from your measurements.

Yes, getting the lengths are a pain. I had to add the dome light wire, fuel sending unit wire, and add the wiring in for the trailer socket to my new VWM harness. Just trying to get those single wires to the correct length wore me out.

Great job fellas. My truck is a T211, WC12. My question is, Is there any diagram of the bulkhead connector itself? I have purchased several manuals , yet none have the placement of wires . I'm rewiring mine one wire at a time, running them alongside the original with removable zip-ties, soldering all connections with black shrink tubing. When completed I will wrap the harness.
