New Hull Compas

Post by Tankdriver » Sat Apr 22, 2017 10:55 am

I picked up a new Hull to put on my WC63 center bar on the windshield. Should I leave it black, or paint it green?

Thanks

Nobody have a idea?

I know this is not shown on as a part that was in the parts cat, but I feel sure that some would have been mounted.........

Hmmm; never saw one before, but if it is a field installed thing, then leave it black. If it was a factory installation, then paint it green.
I probably would paint it green anyway, as I like OD green things. Much of what I own is OD green; house, car, clothes, jeeps, Dodges; you get the picture. I do have a red car but I never drive it.

Well a did some more digging and finally found this......

1. Mine is wrong model

2. I know this is jeep, but you know us lower class dodge boys would have com-shawed one or 2.....

M4 HULL Compass, a rare accessory to any Jeep!!

Once a Jeep is completely rebuilt, the owner usually focuses on gathering the correct tools and equipment to give the vehicle that authentic and complete look. While wrenches, tire pumps etc are fairly common, a rare accessory is the M4 Hull Compass which most collectors know from Ray Cowdery's book 'All American Wonder'. Although not all Jeeps came with one, a Hull Compass mounted on the vehicle looks great and usually starts good conversation. These compasses came in both black and brown bakelite and with different mounting brackets.
