I Need a Picture of a WC63 Bed

Post by dpcd67 » Thu Mar 23, 2017 8:45 am

I need a good picture of the center portion of the top of a WC63 Wood Type 3 Bed. I have the dimensions of everything else but the center part. Top and from underneath would be good. I can make a drawing from that. Why don't I just buy the bed kit? Because I make everything I can on a restoration. That is part of the process.
Thanks in advance.

The bottom will not be a problem to get, but the top is loaded for a show coming up.....

So will the underneath help?

Since i am at least two months from needing that information, you can wait until later to take a picture. I would like the top and bottom, if you could. I have learned that there are four reinforcement strips under the tops. thanks. And the length is 82 inches for the center piece. And one vertical reinforcement between the wheel guards. I could probably make one from here, but a good pic would be good.

OK,

We have a Bataan Death March event on April 7th and 8th. I'll get some for you then. Do you have David Doyle's books?

If so look at the photos of where they cut the truck in half for the airborne kit. That shows some pretty good shots.

If you need more, let me know.

Yes I have the books and I found those pics. Your pics are good too. I don't need floor pics; I have made a few Power Wagon beds and these are just ten foot PW beds.
If you have a pic of the inside wheel well, and one from directly on the top center, that will help. I just want to see the bolt hole locations. My bed had only rotted out wood on it. Very little of it. None on top.
Thanks very much.

If you've done other WC floors, you know that there are only 4 bolts that go through the wood bed. the rest are set by the metal strips. The side strips go through the wood also. I have a set of original strips if you need them.....

Yes I can and have done the floors; do you mean you have a set of wood strips that go under the tops? That is what I need to know about, (I see 4 of them in the pictures in the book), and any wood strips that go on the vertical side boards.

No I have a set of the metal strips that hold the wood bed boards down.

I'll get you photos of the inside boards on the side walls as soon as I can. Probably this weekend.

Ok, I have two sets of the bed cross braces. One for the wood bed I am installing on my WC63, which is still completely in pieces, but is all blasted and primed and the engine is mostly assembled. and one for the all steel bed that I will sell.
thanks.

I did not make it out to the truck last weekend to get your pictures. I'm fighting off a case of Bronchitis.

We are doing a event for the Bataan Death March this weekend, so I'll get you some then.

Sorry....

No problem at all; I am at least two months away from doing the bed anyway; the truck is still all in pieces, albeit, they are now new looking pieces.
Get well first, then take pics.
Thanks very much.

Awesome; thanks very much. I see yours didn't use the T nuts for the wheel guards.
Now, just tell me how many inside, under, cross pieces are under the middle seats. I think there are 4.
