SOLD: M37 Dodge Power Wagon, Runs, Superb! Original Paint

Post by 17thAirborne » Sat Feb 18, 2017 1:29 pm

SOLD Found on a SE New Mexico Ranch, this M37 Dodge Power wagon is in superb condition. :) It is running, drives, steers and shifts well. Only minor surface rust in spots, no rust-rot any where. The Engine and drive train are in super shape. The shifting is tight and all gauges are in working condition. As far as I can tell everything is in place except one BO light and one front tow hook and the trailer pintle. Needs seat covers, canvas and a few minor odds and ends. The bow hardware is there the wood is very dry. All data plates on glove box are present. Looks like the odometer is less than 8000 miles and judging by the cleanliness of the engine they look actual. The speedo and odometer are in working order.

We drained and flushed the tank, blew out the fuel lines, refilled, and started it up. It idles and runs well. Most of the original paint and bumper numbers/stars are peeking through an older coat of OD. This will be a quick and enjoyable restoration.

Here are some videos followed by a few images. I can post more images as requested. Please pm me with any questions you have. More info provided upon request. Available on bill of sale. Do not believe it has ever been titled.

SOLD OBO. Located in SE New Mexico, Will trailer within 500 miles for a fee.

A better walk around with the engine running.

PS: The lights are not working at this point.

The surface coat of the lighter OD is fairly easy to remove. Here is the result after 10 minutes of light cleaning with a mild solvent, used sparingly and gently so as to avoid disturbing the original coat.

Thanks Dave. The NM desert is always kind to these things, except for the canvas and wood. I was amazed to see it fire up after less than 1 hour of work. The light coat of early-color OD is coming off very easy. This might be a candidate which could be left with original paint and a flat clear coat once its all cleaned up.

Very nice to have no humidity; here it would be a rust pile in a few years. And not a bad deal; I tell everyone who says they want to own or restore a military vehicle (usually a jeep), to get an M37 first. A much better vehicle all around and easier to restore, very fun to drive and you can actually haul a ton of gravel in one. Which I have done. And about 1000 times safer to drive. I can't buy them all though.

Oz, beautiful truck, and at a very fair price.

Wanna trade a WC52 project that's 180 degrees from the condition yours is in?

Thanks for the positive comments. The more I look this one over the more I agree with you, particularly in the shape it is in. I am humbly stuck with my 2 WC12 projects

Okay... lets do it.

You very funny GI. Make me laugh out loud.

How about I get my other projects out the door first. A wc
50-something does sound fun though.
