Peter,
I looked closely at the alignment of the WP and engine pulleys and they line up nicely. Since I have the incorrect length of genny pulley, It does not line up. Judging from the images of the longer pulleys in Ernie's pics above, the difference between the two lengths would align the belt with the genny if i used the type he is illustrating. I have a longer pulley possibly to use. Will know soon. Here is a pic of the alignment. What do you think?

Here are the generators i have
The appear to be the same style as Jeep
What is odd is that they are 35Amp
The are marked take out, dodge and Jeep
Ernie
Ernie,
It looks like for sure my issue is the length of the pulley. I think I need a pulley (which may be on the way) with the integral spacer, and a greater length to push it out to align with the other two. I appreciate you climbing over your collection to get those images.

To all who are reading, my plan is to change the B type pulley out, keep the genny and continue along merrily  . If anyone sees an error in my plan, please let me know as I am treading on new ground regarding my former naivete, which is now surely still naivete. But as they say in the ordnance corps, ignorance is bliss until it all blows up.

Well...perhaps they never said that when working around explosives, but someone surely said those words.

Ok that picture is better. Ok you have the correct water pump pulley which is good news.

I checked my engine on the frame stand.
I got a same generator you have with the SP502 A stamp on, same size as yours, I have it on my engine just week ago and my water pump was out forward and to long so I was lucky to have another pulley and change it. I have other generators as well with the correct pulley for dodge.

Also another thing is that if you want to keep the pulley with the SP502 stamp on, their are also 3 different size generator bracket, the small bracket for long pulley generator, The medium wide bracket for small pulley generator and the large bracket for big pulley generator the bracket that mount on the engine.

I can see you got a small generator bracket that's mount on the engine already.

I will have a look if I have a spare medium wide bracket for the small pulley generator.

Cheers Peter

I just saw this now haha I love Shultz, I SEE NOTHING, nothing.

Here my generator
The generator with the coil is the same as yours short pulleys
Not sure if the pictures working.

So you have the A model. I am thinking that your pulley has a separate spacer that slides over the shaft to prevent fan to case contact. With my shaft, the SP484A (jeep pulley) sits right at the end of the pulley with no threads to put the nut on, and the fan rubs against the case. I wonder if there are longer armature shafts also. I am thinking the pulley I have coming has an integral spacer so it will slide into the case somewhat, and if the depth of the bushing is correct I will be able to get the nut on the threads of the shaft and everything will align. I thought the bracket I have mounted is correct. Do you think it is wrong? It seems to fit nicely between the mounting posts of the genny.

Okay...thanks for posting that. Every pic helps to solve the mystery for me. Do my eyes deceive me or are some of those pulleys different diameters?

I have 2 different size pulley.
The armerture are the same as jeep and the pulley will fit but it may do the same as the you have on the wrong position.
The bracket you have are correct but for long pulley same as jeep pulley.
For wartime dodge their are 4 different size bracket for generator sorry my mistake when I checked the book manual.
There are 4 different size bracket the big long bracket is for large 12v generator as well.
Is the brass bush in your shaft where the end of the pulley shaft slides in the front generator housing.
If you don't have it than that what's missing.

Cheers Peter

The generator had all of its components, but it did not come out of a WC hence the wrong pulley length. The current pulley has the integral spacer that keeps the fan off of the case. It is when I tried to insert the SP484 pulley (not integral spacer, needs the separate one) that I realized there was a difference between an A pulley and a B pulley. I also think the armature shaft on some gennies are different lengths and make them linked to either an A pully or a B type pulley. I could be wrong here

I cleaned up and painted the clutch release bearing sleeve, installed the bearing and spring and test fitted it on the transmission.
Can someone verify if I installed the bearing facing the correct way?

I installed the transmission using my piston stool as a mobile installation device. It was just the right height to slide it into the housing. I started two bolts without lock washers, got the bottom bolts on with the LWs and then went from there. Sucked the bolts up a few turns at a time to keep the angular torque off of the shaft. On nice and tight now.

Pedals on, but not adjusted. Need to read up on that. Also i found out my clutch pedal is shorter at the bottom where the spring hole should be and that is missing. Will need to rectify that.
