Looking like a clean job, Oz
. After hitting the local flea market yesterday, the goal for Wednesday was to pull the WC52 out of the shop under its own power.
Well, while my 13 year old
apprentice was filming, I ensured that there were no obstructions in the path, moved all of the parts and tools that
somehow accumulate, and did a final pre-firing inspection. I put my CJ rim down on the cab and took a seat behind the wheel.
After firing it up with relative ease, I soon found out the clutch was inop (always something, huh
). I already knew the brakes weren't working, but that the E-brake did. Mind you I had just placed on a new bellcrank from MWM, and serviced the front hubs, draglink, and steering box.
The RPM's were low enough that I just threw the shifter into reverse, and she slowly started easing back. The main door to my shop is 10ft wide, and 12ft high, so I'm ok on room, just gotta take it slow. Just need to adjust and compensate to the right a bit to clear the door, slowly, wait...
I HAVE NO STEERING
Oz, as a reminder, please center your steering wheel before you do any work on your steering components-
especially the bellcrank. It'll help you to not freak out and grab the E-brake when you're mere inches away from slamming a 5,500lb machine into one of the 6x6's that holds up your new shop, all the while being filmed by the
