My work deteriorates rapidly with each beer and I'll have a head start in anticipation.Dozerman51 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2018 7:21 pmOk Ozzie,

Your truck is looking awesome Oz!
I haven't been on this area of the forum much but see how far your truck is coming along.
I loved when all my vehicles were at this point of restoration: fresh paint and wires and accessories. Love it!

Looking good Oz,
I knew you could weld the tank yourself. And your exhaust system setup looks very much like mine. Pretty amazing that there really isn't any rubber attaching points for the exhaust system other than the motor mounts. That thing is rock solid when mounted to factory specs...eh?

Re: Restoring WC12 W-231808
Thanks guys. Just returned from KY/TN. Have a lot of work to do to return to normalized progress on the WC. It may be a few days before I post again as I take care of some older family member concerns, which are very important. Again, I appreciate your patience. Sent the tank out to have the top welded as I am getting pressed for time. It looks good, but the welder recommends not grinding it flat as that might open up some of the tiny weld pores. (comments on that?) I am leaning towards just wire wheel to clean it up and paint. It won't show under the bed anyway.

That is what I was thinking. Thanks for confirming it for me. It won't show under the bed and I don't want to chance opening up a pore. Great

Re: Restoring WC12 W-231808
I have to finish the fuel system, engine details, and then the cab. With the cab mounted i'll be able to place the wire lengths correctly. I'm looking forward to that as well. tanks

Re: Restoring WC12 W-231808
Had a few hours to work today. Then back to other things. Will be a few days again between posts.
I changed the genny bracket and adjustment strap. Everything lines up now.

Re: Restoring WC12 W-231808
I figured out where the front fuel to fuel pump line goes and mounted that along with two insulated hold down clamps. I also installed the original grounding strap that was on the line when I stripped the frame. I understand there are many variations from none to a few grounding straps on the early WCs. I think none of them left the factory with them, but perhaps a few were installed via motor pool or ordnance directed retro-fitting. Not sure on that as I have no documentation to back it up.

Re: Restoring WC12 W-231808
Last event for the day was installing the governor, carb and air cleaner stack. My air cleaner throat, clamp and throttle neck are not the correct type as has been discussed at length before on many of the WC threads. I grew tired of finding and cleaning filters only to find I had the wrong style throat to carb attachment. This is what I'm sticking with. I have the correct carb throat which will stay with the parts pile.
Just a note, I've seen restorations with the gov installed facing both ways. I'm not sure which is correct, I'll hold out for some advice before I need to hook up the vacuum line.

Re: Restoring WC12 W-231808
Here is where I must stop for now.
I hope someone answers my post regarding the throttle linkage as mine does not match any of the restorations I've viewed. THe TMs don't provide good images.
If anyone has an image of the correct throttle linkage that is mounted on the manifold, i;d appreciate a few shots being shared.
Thanks

Re: Restoring WC12 W-231808
Oz, so that portion was confusing to me as well, so I took a lot of fair to decent pics of that set up. If the 3/4T is similar to the 1/2T, I can post them. This is a Dodge 230 motor, but not T-214. Carby is a Carter BB...
