civvy wm cab vs wc cab

Post by kensdodge1 » Mon Apr 22, 2013 12:21 am

i was told there was no difference in the hood fitment between the 2 cabs. I believe this to be untrue. Can anyone verify this ?
I thought the cowl was more slopped on the wc cabs ? and of course the rockers are much bigger on the wc's

You are correct.
On the civilian trucks the hood is flat, on military the hoos slopes down. The cowl on the trucks are different.

You are correct, Military cabs are different than Civilian cabs. I'm looking for some links to pics for you now...

Its alot of work, but you can change the firewall/cowl from a rusted mil cab to the civi one. The kick panels under the doors are a different height also. The other differences are the civi cab will have a hole for the gas tank filler. post war cabs have a different center section between the glove box and guages, On the mili/early cabs the ribs run all the way down, on the post war civ cans the ribs stop after the curve. The military cabs have sliders on the side of the windshield to open it and close it like a jeep. There will not be holes around the back window for the screen. And of course the holes in the fire wall will not be correct.

Not to add more. but the power wagon cab would be a tough one to fit. The floor is different, it is like a 3/4 ton floor with the metal hump in the center and 2 diamond plate floor boards.
You will be better off with a 1937 to 1947 Dodge civi cab, They are all the same from the 1/2 tons to the 1 1/2 tons.
If you use a 1939 cab, you have to use 1939 doors as the lock plate is in a different place.
If you find an open cab with a bad floor, you can use the floor out of a closed cab, with a little trimming. That is what I did on my VC5

ad more insult to injury thank you sir lol I just picked up a wc frame so that i can make everything fit together btr. Currently everything is sitting on a 72 snowcommander frame with about 6" of body lift to make it all fit. and my cab is pretty well beat to death.
