NOS WWII ISSUE 3/4 TON WC FUEL TANK CC-928076

Post by Joe Gopan » Mon Apr 01, 2013 7:06 pm

NOS genuine OEM WWII GI Issue CC-928076, squeaky clean, no corrosion or blemishes, original factory gray finish, for the 3/4 Ton and 1-1/2 Ton WC. Not configured for Command Car. You wont see many of these anywhere. This has been safely stored away since the 40's and they are scarce.

TRADE ONLY toward .30 BMG M-1919 Semi Auto.

It is stored safely away. Do you have something to trade? Check the 4X4 and 6X6 SNL's for CC 928076 features and application. There are few, if any, in the hands of dealers, it is not going anywhere soon, we've had it since the 40's, only a trade will shake it loose from me. The last one I traded was with Lawrence Nabholtz in 1973 or 74, he sent me a NOS M-31C with Cradle and Tray. Lawrence restored a 3/4 Ton WC with much NOS sheet metal, including a NOS rear body that he bought from a Pennsylvania Surplus Dealer.

Ben- Lawrence did not use the fuel tank in his WC restoration. It is still floating around, waiting for the next restoration. He also bought 2-3 of those Dodge rear beds. Two of them are still holed up somewhere.

I remember him remarking about preparing his 63 Ford pickup to haul those bodies. Am guessing the bodies were at Maury Kleins, Kaufmans or Firestone Motors. His WC came out beautiful at the time. Am sorry that I did not buy it from him. It was thru him that I got in contact with the fire Chief (Anderson) in Idabel, OK who was building M-38A1's with new bodies.

Put some miles on the Dodge. It was a very nice restoration. I should have bought it as well. O well. The good old days.

About the same time anybody had any of the pretty well unobtainable items you constantly post "TRADE ONLY" items people need for. Why not just find a reasonable price for your items, sell them and save up the money for the items you want when you find them? I simply think you just enjoy offering stuff people would really like, then give them an almost impossible "trade for" item, just to mess with people. Personally, I'd LOVE to have a N.O.S. tank for my WC-51: I have a POS one I have had to fix up, involving a great deal of manual labor, but I do not have any of the things you "TRADE ONLY" for, but could probably have worked out something with you if you'd been asking cash. Most of the things I have seen you looking for are "unobtanium" plated hen's teeth: sort of a demented "bait & switch" in order to get a rise.

So I see no one replying as simply the market giving up wasting their time. And that includes me, too.

No bait and switch, parts are an investment, some of us were fortunate enough to have been in this business when 40's -50's era MV parts were abundant.
Much of the NOS GI sheet metal and rare parts I have have been with me since the 50's-60's, some parts go back as far as the 40's.
Many who now seek parts are 30-50 years late and envy those that have accumulated necessary parts. Rare parts come in handy for trading for other rare parts as they are better than money. It pays to get established in the hobby with other long time MV enthusiasts who practice a two way street and share their private stock of parts. If a trade for something rare that I need does not materialize, this tank will likely end up some day as a gift to a long time friend in the hobby who has always been there to help.
Reasonable price? Nothing is reasonable, money does not always work, but rare parts for trade does.
I have just the one left now, had several once. Last one I sold was in 1986,and prior to that 1n 75 or 76 I traded with friend Lawrence Nabholtz for one of his NOS M-31 M.G.Mounts with Cradle he was selling for $195.00. It pays to be patient.
