Great find;
how did you beat Wally to it? :D

There are 2 other survivor out there, Chet Krause's amd Wally Wallforth's.
Thats not to bad 3 out of twenty something.

The wheels are strickly VC and fairly hard to find in decent shape, (i am still looking foe a couple that are not all rutted)
The same goes for front axel parts, Jaap was making up the front inner axel sets last year.
Can't wait to see pics and get the frame number, did you get the engine number, should start with T202 if it is original.

the number that is on the data tag is 8644327 , where is it located on the frame, there is T202 on the engine, should there be a number after the T202.

Thank you, for the info

My carryall article here;

http://www.gwim2.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/carryal1.htm

It would be good to get not just the chassis number, D/O/D, engine number, and so on but also the chassis PART NUMBER (usually stamped halfway along the RIGHT frame rail, same size and layout as the chassis number stamping ) This is to check that as well as an original body it has the original chassis (VC 6 had their own chassis part number)

then have a look at my survivors page and you will see the two known VC 6 on there and can compare the numbers.

7th August as the date of delivery is the same as one of the other trucks, but that is probably the date they were accepted by Quartermaster Corps inspectors rather than the build date.

What else ? ah yes, the body tag info from the body, should be 4013-xxxx as it was actually made as a hand-converted panel van rather than a Carryall (it's so early no body type code existed for Carryall when it was made)

Pictures?

t202

Post by Ernie Baals » Fri Oct 05, 2007 3:42 pm

Hi Rory
Yes there should be a number stamped after the T202, that number will be the serial number of the engine.
Also you should get in touch with Chrysler and get your build sheet.

The information is on the list

Post by Gordon_M » Sat Oct 06, 2007 7:59 am

The information you gave me is now added to the V Series Survivors List;

http://www.gwim2.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/vc200401.htm

I'm hoping that Bert has got back to you with forum info by now, if not PM me, but I use the same e-mail for Bert as I sent to you 8~)

That's three VC6's out of the 25 made, with the last two turning up a year apart. 12% survival rate for such a rare truck.
