Re: GPW Mashup
It continually amazes me to observe what folks will do with old 4x4 machines. I suppose the "utilitarian" nature of a MV's compels folks to repurpose them versus scrap them. Think of all the examples that have surfaced over the years. With the northern climate, I can see the need for a closed cab and evidently the guy had an old suicide door Dodge laying out in the back 40... Do these projects start with detailed engineered conceptual drawings or with lots of beer, spare time, junk strewn in the yard, and an idle oxygen/acetylene torch?

Forget about the asking price. What would you do with this?

Re: GPW Mashup
It's a very special vehicle, hence the very special price.
Very, very sad! Maybe a guy could salvage the frame but theres not much hope for the tub....maybe the rear panel, wheel wells and cowl are salvageable? Nice that she still has her data plates....GPW 96596, DoD 2-8-43. Looks like a Louisville GPW.
Not much hope for GPW 96596....

Sad is a good descriptor for this Frankenjeep nightmare. Oh, the HORROR. I tell you though, if this sells for that price, I am going into the "Bubba jeep" building business.

Mashed up jeeps like this are why I try to save them before they get screwed up like this one. My wife says I can't save them all, but I keep trying and I hope all of you do too. Best wishes; Leo

Re: GPW Mashup
My only argument would be that who's to say this wasn't "bubbafied" back in the late 40s or early 50s? Wouldn't this still be a piece of history then? Of course I'd rather it be original military again, but just sayin'Leo H Jankowski wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2017 7:37 pmMashed up jeeps like this are why I try to save them before they get screwed up like this one. For $14,995 they must be dreaming....if it was $1,499.50 it would sell and be stripped for parts in no time at all, There are a lot of WWII items till there. It wasn't worth 15K the day it was (butchered) completed, let alone after years of abuse and in the shape it is in now.
