Re: A Volvo "Jeep"
Having looked at one about thirty years back (in Germany), it appeared to be very similar to the Dodge 3/4T in design.
Really though vehicles there. They also had a hard cab model.

These were not made in any large numbers, as the vehicle high point of gravity and tended to flip over in high speed turns. They built a roll cage for them, but the whole concept of recoilless guns never caught on. The gun was a 90 mm one. The army kept them in storage for a number of years and finally disposed of them, with VERY few miles on the clock (3000-5000 kilometers total) , for around 20.000 SEK in the early 1980's. They originally didn't have any windshield, just two small Brookland type of foldable windshields in front of the driver and gunner. They didn't have any cover either, so the soldiers driving them got soaking wet. They're fun vehicles, the engine is the sturdy Volvo B-18 and that will run forever, with an occasional oil change.

Yes, a PVPJTGBIL 9031 from the early 1960s. Supposed to kill Russian tanks. Fun vehicle. A local collector had two, I borrowed one to take to the Big Bear meet near Modesto, CA many years ago, then to the 1999 MVPA National Convention in San Jose. Good off-road ability. The correct roll bar is in your photos, not the type on the truck for sale. It would disconnect quickly at the front and pivot up and back to lay on the ground, I suppose so the troops can shoot the gun quickly. I believe there was a cover for that but not designed as a vehicle top for driving. Having one in the MV hobby without its 90mm Carl Gustav would be a shame since the truck is completely a gun carriage. Ammo compartments built in the in the rear.Goranwc51 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2017 8:27 amThese were not made in any large numbers, as the vehicle high point of gravity and tended to flip over in high speed turns.
