I just listed this on Ebay, no dollars were spared on this rebuild.
Thanks, Earl

Thanks Ferrell, it's nice to have it noticed that a lot time and money went into it. Although I should have proof read my typing, it should have been listed as a 1947 not 1942, I do know the difference, ha.

VERY fine looking jeep, but I'm curious how you determined it was a '47.

Where did you find the serial number? frame tag? firewall tags?

Everything I see indicates an early '46.
  • Firewall mounted horn: discontinued at s/n 51228
  • 3 individual dash tags: discontinued about s/n 46xxx
  • 3/4" shaft transfer case: discontinued at s/n 24196
  • Separate steering arms: discontinued at s/n 22972
You say it's a "new body", but I'm not aware of any repro tubs made with firewall horn mounts.

I doubt the engine is a WW-II "buy back", I believe it might be an original '46 engine:

The oval pad is far too pristine to have had an MB number ground-off. Except for earliest production (up to engine @ 13xxx), CJ-2A engines just left the pad blank, and were stamped on the water pump boss.

Can you report the engine s/n, and tub ACM number? If you don't want to reveal publicly, can you tell me by PM please? I'm just collecting info for my research database.

Thanks, Sean
