Heil mfg. took up the slack for Gar Wood ind. when the going got tough during W.W. 2. This winch will fit the G-506 and is compatible with the P.T.O. and turn in the correct direction. I had one on my 1st. Chevy until I blew the winch up extracting some fool from deep mud.

What do you make of the brackets on the ends of the front support angle?? I thought those were an indication of a CCKW winch, in that the angle and winch are mounted between the rail extensions. It was my understanding that the Chevy winch support angle was slung under the rail extensions, dropping the winch about 3 inches.

Hi Kirk,
I think (don't know for sure) the 3 hole tab on the end of the forward angle is for attachment to a GMC. The angle in your pic is for a Chevy, The pdf you sent me worked great.
Did you win the chassis in Detroit?

That chassis is most definitely a Chevy. The frame extension used on the Jimmy is an upside down "L" angle. Don't let the oil filter canister on the driver side of the engine fool you. Look on the firewall, passenger side. Stock Chevy. That cross-member, dog ears and roller in front of the winch is what you are looking Kirk. If you are going to purchase it and don't need everything there, I could help differ the cost. It turns out that I need a replacement worm gear housing. Mine is rusted through in a couple of crucial areas. Dave.

I haven't heard yet on the Detroit truck. I was not bidding, my buddy was. Need to check with him and see if we're headed to Detroit.
