Re: NOS Jeep Shielded Ignition Kit
I contacted QTM to ask about the kit. It was found in Norfolk, VA at a surplus yard. It was purchased at a DRMO auction in the late 50's early 60's.
My Navy Jeep was also from the Norfolk base, and was sold as surplus in the 60's. I'm confident this kit is for the Line Maintenance MB/GPW. These were essentially surplus Jeeps converted by Valentine Welder & OE Szekely to become the first APU's. A sort of hack job prototype, then refined throughout later years with the CJ2A/CJ3A. Each Jeep I've seen has remnants of a shielding system. My Jeep even has a shielded fuel pump that sits inside the gas tank.

Re: NOS Jeep Shielded Ignition Kit
If you buy it & use it, I'd be VERY interested in the crate lid portion with the address. I'm from the Nashville area.Nick_ wrote:I contacted QTM to ask about the kit. It was found in Norfolk, VA at a surplus yard. It was purchased at a DRMO auction in the late 50's early 60's.

Re: NOS Jeep Shielded Ignition Kit
They have 2 kits. I'd love to have one but can't justify that cost.
