I wonder if it is really a GPW. The rivets on the data plate look like brake shoe rivets. Would be nice to see the frame #.
But who knows.

Looks like an older scratch and paint restoration to me. Why would it have 1942 MB stenciled on the rear otherwise?

Front frame horns have been plated. Somebody may get burned.

I would say it has one of the early MDJ re-pop tubs, no 1/2 door snaps which are left off 99% of the time when these are fitted No top bow mounting hardware and a lot of other things, still I have no doubt it was found it Barn.

Look at the hood number. It appears to be someones service number when they were in the U.S. Army. Starts with RA. RA= Regular Army or enlisted not Drafted. The Army started using SSN. numbers after 7-1-69.

My thoughts exactly. Those are some of the most sure ways to ID a reproduction tub. Maybe an early French tub? Still...not my idea of a "barn find".

I think you guys are to picky.

He says it only has 421 original miles.
That averages out to 16.84 miles a year, before they left it seat in the barn.

This may be as close as you ever get to the 'Jeep in a crate' !!!

It pays to get informed about what you want to buy. That poor person paid 12 grand for a bitsa Jeep salad. Wrong engine, wheels, body, front bumper, holy cow what a bad deal. Would be fun to just drive it, but you could have got one for much less. About the only thing worse was the poor guy that bought a beautiful WW2 Jeep for 10 grand, only to find out it was a scam and his money was long gone in the wind. If you want one of these WW2 Jeeps, go put your hand on it, and take someone who is well informed with you. Craigslist is a great tool, but full of scammers , stolen photos etc. So, if it's too good to be true, it probably isn't. Be careful my friends. John

He has changed the description and removed the reference to being factory original.

He also added this "What you see is what you get I don't know what is original on the Jeep and honest I don't care".
