Can Someone Identify This Military Vehicle?

Post by canorisa » Sun Nov 22, 2015 11:44 pm

Hello all:

During my visits through Thailand I ran into this little gem. It is currently on active duty in the Thai Army. I was not able to get any information on it but I did get the pictures. I'm hoping someone can shed some light into it and tell me what it is...Please see the pics below and comment if you know what it is and what the nomenclature of it.

Thanks,

Joel

Yes.
The Japanese self defense forces have vehicles like this that are not generally available for private purchase [even @ end of life].
In these size 'light utility vehicles' they will be be Mitsubishi or Toyota & the one you have shown was sold on contract to Thailand.
If you can purchase, that would be a good thing to do as they rarely come into private hands. Most mechanical parts will interchange with the manufacturer's readily available commercial models.

I have been trying to buy one of these later model type 73's for the last 3 years with no luck!

Understand how system parts interact with one another. GOOD parts can then be established & the NOT GOOD problem/s part/s isolated for repair or replacement.

John....

Thanks for the input and for all the information. I have been looking at it TRUST ME! :D I'm still not clear as to what this vehicle is. Is it a Toyota Mega Cruiser? I know is not the Toyota BXD10. I have a friend in Colorado who has one and is considering selling it, JUST IN CASE YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED I can put you in contact with him and you can work out the details and btw, his name is also John. He says that there are only 7 of these BXD10's in the US and he has one. They came from the Japanese Self Defense as well.

Thank you. I will continue my search and look at all the information you sent.
