What kind of vehicle is this for...?

Post by Frank » Fri Jul 17, 2015 2:43 am

Please have a look and let me know if you know what it is......

I bought a 1/2 pallet of NOS parts mostly CMP but I have no idea what these boxes would fit. It look like some kind of insert for a compartment.

Gloveboxes, looks similar like the one in the Dodge wc 51 till 63 series but those are square. Yours aren't.

Yep.... could be a glovebox insert but for what kind of vehicle? I have no idea and as far as I have found out the CMP`s did not have a glovebox.

Hi Frank:

Your photos are too small for me to read the dimensions on the ruler, so I can't confirm whether yours are identical in size to the 3 very similar tapered metal glove boxes that I bought at Big Four Auto Parts in Pueblo, CO. 25 years ago. But they look the same as mine. When I bought them, I thought they were for closed cab military Dodge trucks such as a WC-53 Carryall and WC-54 ambulance. They should also fit the WC 1/2 ton 4x4 closed cab trucks too. One of the tapered metal glove boxes I bought long ago is now installed in my 1947 Dodge model WDX Power Wagon, where it fits perfectly and replaced the cheap disintegrated cardboard glove box Dodge installed in their civilian trucks before and after WW II. I bet your tapered metal glove boxes will fit in WW II Dodge closed cab military trucks. Nice find!

Hello Frank

I think Dodge, if they are with CMP parts then probably from D15 / T222 and D60 / T110L right hand drive 15cwt and 3 ton, less likely, but still possible, the T245 APT - I mention the APT because they have drain holes which you would not expect the hard cab to need. Any part number or labelling?

Might or might not be the same as the ordinary US military Dodge glovebox

Tanks Fred :-) They are 10-1/2 inch deep, ca 12 inch wide in the lower part, top/front part is ca 15 inch and the front opening height is 6-1/2 inch.

Frank: Your measurements match my glove boxes exactly, so you have a nice bunch of Dodge WC closed cab metal glove boxes. Congrats!
