1943 Ford GPW Re-enactment Ready.. SOLD
Gang,
I am considering selling my 1943 Ford GPW (GPW103798). Before anyone starts asking questions, it is NOT a show vehicle. Far from it! We have used this vehicle in parades and WWII re-enactments for 2-3 years now and it runs really well, but will need a clutch before too much longer. I will try to go through some of the details to weed out the purists. Frame has some plate patches from some rust, but had New gussets and bumper installed and back crossmember replaced. Pintelhook is newer model. Grill, hood fenders and windshield are all original, but the windshield had been cut and had a section added so we cut it back out and repaired it, but one side is cracking by one of the welds. Dash is in good shape, some gauges work most are repos, speedo bounces and fuel gauge is not hooked up. Tub is original had pretty bad rust in the floor and hat channels, semi repaired and there are still a few small places in the floor, it has a little bondo in the corners and sides but no cracks or anything. Tool boxes have a little rust damage in the bottoms but not rust through, we keep stuff in them! Motor is not original to the Jeep, but was in it when I got it so we rebuilt it, new rings and bearings all the way around and it has 20+ pounds of oil pressure even hot at idle. Also converted to 12volt with an alternator. Carb is leaky but functions ok, radiator does not leak. Tranny and transfer are original and leak like most, but shift ok. Second gear can be a little difficult to get into and occasionally pops out under torque, probably needs new springs in the poppet balls. Front seats are original but seat backs have some rust spots canvas is in good shape, rear seat is repo. Has top bows but no top, does have a windshield cover (which has made greasy spots on the hood!) and a home made wire cutter which will be included. Most of the lights work, the fender mounted driving blackout light has stopped working and one front small blackout lights in the front isn’t grounded good and works occasionally. Emergency brake has a handle in the dash but that is all, no parts down below at all. Repo Gas tank has a small seem leak about half way up so we only put half a tank of gas in usually! It does not have combat rims, but the tires are in good shape. It also has no title, so it will be a bill of sale only. There are other small issues, and I sound like I am running it down, but I am not, I’m just try to be honest and answer a few of the questions up front. The only reason i am considering selling is to help fund my new HALFTRACK project. It could definitely use some TLC, but is a pretty good parade and re-enactment Jeep. Probably looking for somewhere in the $13,000 range.... Email me for additional question and pics.

Was this Jeep at March on Rome last summer? I think I remember seeing this one.

Bump............
My Brother has convinced me that I was a little over ambitious on that first asking price and he really wants to start the halftrack! So we are dropping to $11,000 obo and we will continue to come down a little until we find a bite! Also forgot to mention no title, bill of sale only. Let me know if you have questions or want more pics!
Thanks
Shon

How hard would it be for you to get a Texas title in your name? It may help you get a better price for your jeep.

I believe the only way to do it here in Texas is to get a bonded title, which costs money for the bond and a certain amount of time for which you must hold the bond before they will issue the title. I have never wanted to mess with it.

There are title companies out there. I'm using one now. Cost is about $350. Another way is to use the state of Vermont, you can get a set of Vermont plates and a registration cheap. This is a legal way of doing it.
