Why? I thought that older vehicles with engines built before unleaded gas was mandated benefitted because lead adds extra lubrication to the moving parts. To that end, I remember all my gear head buddies and mechanics talking about the need to manchine the heads of older engines to add hardened valve seats because the lack of lead in the fuel (with the resulting loss of extra lubrication) would wear out valve seats over time. My further understanding is that even a MODERN engine would thank you for the added lead (and resultant extra lubrication) except that the lead would ruin the catalytic converter.

Is this all myth?

All my MV's are from the leaded gasoline era. They exhibited none of the issues that exist with the present E-10 fuels.
