Thanks Ernie, just picked up a 42 GPW that's been sitting in a municipal airport hanger 20+ years. It's in incredible original condition, no rust in AZ and was used to run private aircraft in and out of hangers and to run flight crews around the airport. Bought for song to include a bunch of WWII weapons and gear (helmets, stretchers, field phones, even a complete 50mm uncut Russian Mortar) All WWII GI stuff brought back from the war. It the belonged to a club that had disbanded and the owner had died. Even had a AZ title. Will be my next project after I finish my 47 CJ2A and 47 SPEN Trailer project that I'm working right now.

Jeep runs, just had to replace the fuel pump, battery and change the oil ..they used aviation fuel, leaded no alcohol in the tank and it was as fresh as the day it poured in. She started right up!

That is amazing about the aviation fuel, could you send us a jerrycan full over here please. Joking apart, is it possible to buy aviation fuel and at what outlet would you get it, and is a pass or licence required ?

If you have a local small airport, they use it to fuel the small aircraft. It would (likely) be illegal to pump it directly into your vehicle fuel tank, but into 5 Gallon cans which are for a small aircraft back at your private hanger  they would likely pump all day.

Here it's normally referred to a "100 Low Lead" or Aviation Gas 'Av Gas' it is 100 octane with some lead but no where as much as the previous automotive fuel lead content had.
I recall pulling up in my convertible Fiat 124 Spider back in the late 70's and fueling her up at the tank on the ramp, but it was twice the cost of automobile fuel, and we could do that back then, (funner night on the town, but really did nothing to make that Fiat go any faster) today if you checked at the local small airport you could get some clarity on obtaining it for antique vehicles, maybe a lawn mower as well.
I also recall hearing of a tank collector here in the States that only uses Av Gas, as it can sit and hold up so well between infrequent drives.

Drag racing tracks often have high octane gas pumps.

Hello,

Good news for us here in Florida,
The new WaWa Gas Station in my area carrries ethanol free gasoline, I think it is higher octane than regular. It was in the 90's octane I think.
I paid $2.79 a gallon a few weeks ago.
I bought some to put in my Halftrack to keep fresh fuel in it !
The ethanol really ruins fuel pumps on modern vehicles that sit for a while, as well as chain saws, and mowers that sit.

I know that it ruined a new MB fuel pump rebuild kit a couple years ago.
There are another 3 WaWa's going up soon even closer so I am pleased :D
Once I get things done, and get the jeeps up and done, I will use only ethanol free gasoline to avoid issues with fuel pump rubber and such.
With all our new USA oil production, I think it is time to get ethanol out of our fuels, but as long as we can get ethanol free, I am happy.
It is all about options, so it will be win - win for customers and ethanol producers if everybody has the option to purchase the better fuel
for our needs for vehicles that tend to sit longer than usual.

Best Regards,
Ray

Just a FYI, looked up 100LL Avgas at local airports, price varies from low of $3.25 per gallon to $6.50 (large airport) so If I visited a small field, the price is lower, and 'here' only about one dollar more than regular unleaded (ethanol) auto pump fuel, and ironically only 26 cents higher than premium unleaded (ethanol) my Wife puts in her Jaguar...hmmmm

PS: one side effect of leaded fuel is sparkplug fouling more frequently....notice how todays engines (can) go several hundred thousand miles without a sparkplug cleaning?
