1950 British Brace?

Post by Rustman » Fri Jan 05, 2018 12:00 pm

Saw, but did not purchase this item today. Seemed a bit esoteric, even for myself. But I can go back for it if somebody PM's me with interest. Looks to be some flavor of brace marked 1950 with a Broad Arrow stamp.

That thing is wild looking! A non-detachable female square drive end in 1950!

Do you guys think it might be a home made tool out of some random parts ? The curve does not look normal for a brace and the welds look crude.

You could be right, Roger, but I thought you would've already had the mfgr and part number looked up to confirm or deny that, mate! :)

By the way, please check your PMs.

Certainly could have been bodged together. Or maybe it was a tool unique to them and it's not a brace handle but rather a valve wrench. The set screw held it in place and it was used with less revolutions then a brace and therefore lent itself to the different shape and I believe the palm piece is fixed, doesn't swivel. So good for cranking open or shut a valve, but would wear your hand out if drilling.
