IRWIN 6" screwdriver

Post by ghengus » Thu Nov 16, 2017 1:49 pm

I picked up a IRWIN Made in US of A flathead screwdriver today. It is a 6" blade. First time I have seen one of these with the handle marked. Would this be correct for the GMTK. Maybe the 41-S-1228? Is it nothing important, not correct for a military tool kit? Thanks for the help.

These screwdrivers were discussed in this thread.

I believe the consensus was that they are likely postwar. Here is the handle from my phillips driver I posted there. It had the pre 1950 patent number so was probably made right after the end of the war.

Thank you for the reply and link. That makes sense. I thought it was pretty different and cool. Either way the markings are what sold it for me. Thanks again.
