I don't know about Wright. In fact, I don't know if Wright even manufactured a midget set in this era. But Blackhawk and Williams definitely supplied 1/4-inch drive sets. Both are cited in the March 1945 ORD 5. Not sure what the application for the Williams was, but the 100-pc Blackhawk Master Wrench Set in the tank wrecker included a Blackhawk 1/4-inch drive set.

A link to my Blackhawk Master Wrench set thread is here.

I KNOW I posted several charts on this thread, one of which included specs and model numbers for several mfgrs, including Williams. Now they're gone! I am infuriatingly confused.

Edit: I figured it out. This is a different midget thread. The one with all the info and tons of examples is here.
Sorry, Greg, I found your second link the other night and I didn't get a chance to update this one. Thank you for taking the time to do it for me. We have physical evidence that Wright at least made something (thanks Tin) in 1/4" size. I've been looking high and low for it seems forever trying to find more Wright 1/4" stock but haven't found a thing. They were a relatively minor supplier in the grand scheme of things but you'd think there would be at least a few survivors!

Are you talking about the plated piece marked B-40, NonRpl, and 41+? What is the other marking (northeast of the MADE I USA) that begins with a 9? What is the socket? Looks like something you'd see in a carburetor adjustng set. Tin didn't identify it as 1/4-inch. Did he do so subsequent to posting?

Yes, sir, I am. IIRC the "9" is actually "9+" but I will check tonight (I have the sockets now). After I received them I posted on the next page that Observation on the B-40 sockets. They are 1/4" drive and look similar to Snap-On TMC-45 sockets..

I am totally confused, Bill. I will take this conversation over to your Wright thread.

Don, I finally had a chance to take a photo of my 1/4" sets. Looks like I'll have to start looking for more sets if I'm going to catch up with you! My sets are Walden, Duro, S-K, and New Britain though if you look closely you might see some Snap On and Plvmb pieces.

My guess would be yes for Williams and Blackhawk? I also noticed 1/4" sets in the Cornwell cat I uploaded this morning.

Very impressive collection of 1/4” drive sets, Phil. Very extensive grouping of Duro and Walden. It’s nice to see that you share my fascination with the Midget sets! Let’s see if we can find you the Snap-on and Plomb to complete those sets.

My most recent 1/4” drive project is this New Britain set. I still need to find a 7/16” socket and a sliding Tee. I have a similar Craftsman BE Tee as a placeholder until I find the real thing.
-Don
Edit— I found a New Britain 1/4” spinner to add to the set.

I’ve found some 1/4” drive items lately. First I found this dark finish S-K set on eBay missing only the 3/8” 12 point socket. Fortunately, I had a spare.

On Friday I found a really nice Duro box at an estate sale and moved my keeper 1/4” drive D-I set into it yesterday.

Here's a few shots of the small Duro box and sockets I found at the flea last weekend.
All the sockets were in the box when I picked it up. There's a mix of finishes and branding. All the sockets are marked D-I except for the 11/32 socket, which is Duro-Chrome. The Duro branded socket has the part number, but none of the D-I sockets have part numbers.
By the numbers:
12pt 9/32 D-I
8pt 1/4 D-I
12pt 5/16 D-I
8pt 5/16 D-I
12pt 11/32 Duro-Chrome
12pt 3/8 D-I
8pt 3/8 D-I
12pt 7/16 D-I
