extinguisher and bracket

Post by conrod6 » Sat Sep 02, 2017 9:56 am

Bit of a dilemma - I cannot find a definitive answer to which bracket and therefore Fire extinguisher to fit to my early March '43 GPW. I don't know - and I have spent some time searching on the GEE - whether to go with the one strap Ford (whether MV spares repro or if I am lucky enough to find an original - not easy over in UK) or the universal two strap available from Ron or again perhaps an original - and there is one on fleabay currently.
The extinguisher I thought may be a candidate is the SOS fire guard which is not too difficult to find in polished brass condition ( I read that a post war quick aid can be used too with a repro decal) . Not sure if a Fyr Fyter would have been likely to have been fitted originally or not.
Any of you more knowledgeable guys care to help me out here ?

Barrie, give jeeparts a ring, they may be able to help, not sure if they stock originals though. :D

SOS Fire-Guard with SINGLE strap bracket with "F" stamp on the back with square swaged-in threaded blocks in the feet.
