UK 2017 finds
A month into the season and it has been slow with plenty of wet weather.
A found some nice Plomb sockets and small DBE.
The Plomb 1942 8160 DBE is marked LOC-137-USA in electric pencil. I am sure I have a similar marked wrench but I cannot find it now.

Also from Ebay I have picked up this Ridgid longrip screw extractor box which I believe bears a good likeness to the RAPD Image. No extractors though so if anybody has any orphans looking for a new home .........

That 585-13 is in marvelous condition, Rog. Perhaps unused. 1942 date code!

The wrench is in perfect condition so as you say it is probably unused, it will go nicely with the others ..... still looking for the 723 ...
I had a good day at the tank museum at Bovington yesterday but visiting the main exhibits this time and not the library. They have a good Tiger Tank exhibition on at the moment with all of the Tigers family together for the first time (well sort of, missing the Sturmtiger)

Re: UK 2017 finds
Roger,
The NAF class 41 catalog seems to show the exact same extractor set that you found. I found an almost complete Blue Point version that I assume was supplied by Ridgid due to the similarities. It was missing several drill bits when I found it but I was able to replenish those. I'm still missing a few pieces though. It is in my NAF set in my Kennedy cantilever box.

Re: UK 2017 finds
Thanks for posting the NAF reference Don, I had completely forgotten to look in that book.
I had noticed that the Blue-point boxes existed and were very similar. They are great boxes and seem to be well over-engineered for what they hold. Quite heavy Die Cast.
Steve, i will keep you posted, the wedding is on the Saturday so my head might be clear enough to drive down.

Re: UK 2017 finds
I have also picked up this Micrometer made by Moore and Wright. It is marked RAE Dept 17.
The RAE is ' Royal Aircraft Establishment' and is was a research establishment credited for developing high strength carbon fibre amongst many other things and was based at Farnborough although it has changed its name now. Being marked RAE dates it to between 1918 and 1988 but I think the style and logo points to the early half of the century..
It would be nice to know if the micrometer had been used in the development of 'Miss Shillings Orifice' !

If memory serves me well, I believe all the pipe wrenches, benders, and cutters in the Snap-On catalogs of the 40's were made by RIDGID, too.d42jeep wrote:I found an almost complete Blue Point version that I assume was supplied by Ridgid due to the similarities.
