Is there any OD under that rust? It might be a Willys MA jack. See this thread for more: viewtopic.php?p=1434900#p1434900
It might also be the basic civilian version of the Spun Steel jack that the MA jack was based on.

Thank you again for the details!

Since I have never actually seen one before, the major detail of the round vs. flat opening totally escaped my eyes. I will search for some paint, but it reminds me more of a pre war paint vs. early and full swing wartime tool.

The only paint chips visible to me, are what appears to be linear red marks, that remind me of a part number or manufacturer name printed on the side at one time. The red markings seem uniform, but are completely illegible.

It was still below freezing when I left for the flea this morning. I knew there wouldn't be many vendors, and I was right. Only wartime tool was this Vlchek Alloy Steel 731-A.

And, pre-War, but I ended up bringing home this neat set of Craftsman Vanadium Auger Bits. Missing just 1 bit.

Very cool find and those bits still look new. Which size are you missing and how are the bits marked?

Thanks Phil. The largest bit is marked '20', there was another unbranded bit, not chrome, marked '10' as the next size down. That's the one I'm missing.
4 of the 5 bits are marked Craftsman, as you would expect, the 5th is the same, down to the blue paint on the ends, but marked Snelling Co. Fiskdale, MASS. Possibly the manufacturer that Craftsman was using at the time. Never heard of Snelling, Co. before.

Still checking out what is wartime, vs. pre and post :?:

Finally saw my first DI socket 'in the wild'
MSGT cut stripe
oTc metal box- is that a bushing driver set??
Craftsman BE socket 15/16
Craftsman H Circle socket 1in
DI socket in 1/2in
Circle DC 15 degree offset DBE 3/8 * 7/16
Steel Select 15 degree DBE- X is for which year?
New Britain P-27 8in plier
rubber medic bag
Bonney DBE (isn't it a cutie) Date code TK
JP Danielson 6in pliers
Most of all these items were included in the New Britain metal box- hard to say no to a solid US box filled with old tools for the cost of a 6 pack...

The OTC box has a universal clutch alignment tool in it.

Thanks, Roger. It would have taken me quite a bit of time to figure that one out. My clutch alignment tool is an old input shaft  .

I had just learned how to use a volt/dwell meter from Scoutpilot's tutorial, and today, found an American made one in that New Britain tool box. When it rains, it pours 8)

It certainly is a cutie - classic wartime finish - raised lettering and all. Nice one.

You just need to come down, hang out, and go with us. If we actually knew what we were doing, a man could really clean up! Until then, I'll keep collecting the pre war and 70's era tools thinking their correct

A few oddities, but a beautiful day out at the market nonetheless

AMERICAN LOCK CO. Lock- no key. What is the worth of a hunk of American made brass? No idea, but had to take it for .50
Plaque for USAF Security Services- in service between 49 and 79. Why did I need that? Had never heard of that outfit in 21 years while in the AF.
PENENS DOE in 1/2 x 9/16. I'm holding another tiny Penens for a guy here on the Gee; maybe I'll make a set...
PLVMB Pebble Finish 3/4 x 11/16
DURO CHROME swivel socket 5/8
GOODELL PRATT No.25 feeler gauge- too many leaves to be wartime, but I was impressed that it had pretty good markings still
Canvas bag for???
WILLIAMS 25- score for the G503 tool kit
FAIRMOUNT ball pein hammer- keep in mind that the PROTO pliers next to it are 10in in length  . Ball Pein is either 4oz or 9oz
PROTO 10in pliers- I was intrigued that the markings not only state U.S.A., but next to that reads: U.S.

Like most of the items I find at the flea market, if anyone has a want/need for any of this stuff for whatever kit you're putting together, feel free to PM me...

OB,
Sounds like a good day well spent at the flea market rather than the office! I can't see the Williams logo on the wrench head. What exactly does it say?

Phil, the Williams has a terrible stamping, but it's the same logo as your example on JEEPDRAW- http://jeepdraw.com/images/williams-wrench-set-02.jpg
