Still really loving this. Those old Blue Point wrenches are awesome. Is there such a thing as a Snap On WWII GMTK? Maybe that would be a good place for a WWII tool kit beginner like me to start

Danny,
Here is a GMTK collected by Wingnutt that had many Snap-on pieces. Check it out.
viewtopic.php?f=48&t=258136&p=1507452&h ... y#p1507452
There was also a set done by Gee member Greaser. I will find it and post the link.
My early MVMTS has a complete 1/2" drive Snap-on socket set dated from 1939 to 1942

Edit - Here is the link to Greaser's GMTK.

Bill, I think it turned out GREAT! I don't remember what gauge stainless wire I used on mine, but I can check if you're interested. If I were you, I don't think I would go through the trouble of re-doing your own (excellent) work. That handle should be strong enough now to last another lifetime.
Looks like the Super Service Kit is coming along nicely. Kudos!

Edit - The stainless steel wire I used was .032 DIA.

Can I congratulate "Danny" (see his link up-thread) on his magnificent work and thread relating his Ford GP project. Back in the 80's I found a GP here in England and my brother owned it for a time before selling two of them to some guys in Europe. I spent a very enjoyable hour reading through Danny's thread. The quality of his workmanship is awesome.

Thanks for the links Don. I need to look into what is involved with the GMTK. I know the GP has its own specific tool kit it was delivered with. Looks pretty spartan though. I would like to have something a little more comprehensive in case of roadside struggles. Dad used Snap On tools and I have always been a fan. Someday I would like to create my own like Greaser.

And thank you for the kind words about my build thread Hartofoak. I am doing the best I can. Here in like 10 days I will be driving a GP across England on the way to invade the beaches of Normandy. So look out and if you see a GP driving on the wrong side of the road next week it's probably me!

I always knew you were a glass is half full (versus 46% missing) kind of guy. :D Looking good, Bill. I saw a pair of Vacuum Grip 87 pliers today, but they had a 1946 date code, and the guy wanted too much anyway.

Inching up there in item count. Picked up three more sockets and the A-51 hacksaw. 59% of the way there!

Bill,
When you first started this I felt for sure it would take you several years to complete it. It is one of those projects like putting a GMTK set together that you just have to stay after day after day to get things done. Nice job and I can't wait to see the entire set.

This has been the most painfully unproductive flea market summer for me. A few new pieces to bring the item count up to 64% complete.

Bill,
It's really coming along. I'm still looking for pieces but I really haven't found anything lately. I'm sure that they will turn up eventually. Your wartime 1/4" S-K set looks great.

In addition to the 3/4" sockets viewtopic.php?f=48&t=277736 I purchased from Tin Medic, I have added the two 3/4" extensions and hammer as well. Big shout out to d42jeep for re-handling the 20 oz. hammer for me! By item count that's nearly 70% now.

Time to add the latest finds. A 3/8" speeder joined the 3/4" sockets from Tin Medic and d42jeep added the CS-1 scraper. The Vacuum Grip side cutters and CX-1820 obstruction wrench round out the lot. Many thanks to everyone helping to fill this out!

Bill,

Do you still need an LTA1618? I found this pair today with a bunch of other Blue-Point stuff...
