If you have an account, here are a couple great articles from 1943 in newspapers about the boys. If you don't have an account, PM me and you can use mine.

Mr. Tepper passed in 1951. Ironically, he collapsed on the street after having just left the hospital with heart issues.: https://www.newspapers.com/image/147436 ... BTepper%22

It's amazing how well the tools hold up when they've been preserved in cosmoline. You can see the extensions upthread that I picked up. I cleaned one of them up for daily use and it looks brand new once it was cleaned up. If you are able to and get the chance, post some pictures of the 3/4" socket set that you have.
Bill
In addition to the NOS preserved WWII Issue 1-3/16" wright "45" Dated 3/4" Sockets, I have NOS Examples of Snap-On and Bonney in war time finish 1-3/16". May also have an example in WALDEN.

Re: The Wright Stuff
This Western Reserve Academy story is more amazing every time I dip into it again. Just a couple more tidbits to add from Todd's Newspaper.com articles.
- Tepper, the machine shop supervisor, was Studebaker's Chief Engineer for 23 years! A health problem forced him into early retirement, and the school's headmaster cajoled him into un-retiring.
- The machines in the shop were all used/broken/orphaned, and were repaired by the boys under Tepper's guidance.
- Just 82 of the 200 students did all the work.
- Their earnings were put into scholarship funds or war bonds.

Am still looking for 41-A-18-251, ADAPTOR, PULLER, STEERING WHEEL, to complete my service tool set for my MV's, Am sure I have another NOS GI 3/4" drive 1 3/16" manufactured by WRIGHT. Can you help me find the 41-A-18-251 ADAPTOR?
WWII had some "odd ball" manufacturers of sockets. I seem to remember one by TRUTH in Mankato MN.

If I come across a 41-A-18-251 I will definitely let you know. I don't see much in the way of specialty tools but you never know.

Re: The Wright Stuff
Thanks.
I am not much for building WWII period tool sets. I have some NOS misc 3/4" drive sockets that are sealed in preservative that I occasionally sell when I get a chance. These were surplused back in the 50's. I have some that I keep in my tool chest for working on my ,the Wright 1 3/16" happened to be handy when I read your post. Am sure I may have a NOS GI Issue Wright socket squirreled away. Got WWII Bonnies and Snap-On's w/phosphate finish.

Re: The Wright Stuff
Making some progress on the 3/4" front. henry501 was able to help me add to the 41-W-2620 socket inventory with the addition of new exemplars of 41-W-3048 (1-5/8"), 41-W-3052 (1-3/4"), and 41-W-3054 (1-13/16"). I also added a 43+ dated 41-W-3034 (1-1/16") socket. That leaves just the 41-W-3037 (1-3/16") and 41-W-3040 (1-5/16") sockets and the 41-B-309-20 (8") extension!

Re: The Wright Stuff
A Wrighteous day for sockets. The postman brought goodies from Tin Medic which included the upthread items and some GMTK size sockets, too. (The inventory on page 2 of this thread has been updated.)
Only TWO more to go (7/16" and 5/8")!
Observation on the B-40 sockets. They are 1/4" drive and look similar to Snap-On TMC-45 sockets. First evidence of Wright and 1/4" drive in this timeframe that I've seen.

Re: The Wright Stuff
Came across some interesting historical information today. If you look at Snap-on LDH-462 3/4-Drive 1-7/16 Socket, Wartime Production on the Alloy Artifacts site they show some Snap-on 3/4" sockets that closely resembles the production by Wright Tool and Forge, suggesting that Wright may have supplied the socket blank to Snap-on. I checked and I had both manufacturers socket in the same size and it certainly makes for a compelling argument!

Re: The Wright Stuff
So, now we know that Wright made a late war GMTK 41-H-1502 breaker bar.

The 18" Wright bar is a nice find, Bill. The 18" bars are kind of few and far between. Congratulations.
