A Cornucopia of Catalogs
The old Rose Antique Tools site catalogs have shown up on a new tools site called Blackburn. Catalogs of interest not already posted here on the G include Atkins, Millers Falls, North Bros, PEXTO, Red Devil, Stanley, Starrett, and Williams, though not all of them are wartime vintage.

Thanks for the link Wingnutt.

Re: A Cornucopia of Catalogs
For anyone interested in Plomb tools, here is a link to some Plomb and early Proto catalogs. Please note that catalog 19R contains post war tool listings. I find that 18A is more useful for a GMTK reference.

Re: A Cornucopia of Catalogs
I started this thread in 2015 with the idea of consolidating links to catalog scans (posted here or elsewhere) in one place. I just posted some scans from a 1944 hardware supply catalog, and when I came here to add the link to that thread, I realized that we don't have links to all the catalog scan threads on the G...
If I missed any, please add links in ensuing posts. We can use this thread, handily searched and retrieved from this often impossible search system by its intentionally unique name (CORNUCOPIA), as an index.

Thanks, Wing! I appreciate your time on these. I'm not a catalogue nut now, but I'm sure I will at some point .

Todd will be adding a few more. I am sending him about 40 more to scan to his website.

That's great news. It's very generous of you to share your incredible (and expensive) catalog collection. I'm looking forward to seeing them. Merry Christmas!

Re: A Cornucopia of Catalogs
If a catalog is scanned and already on-line, there is no need to, Gordon. That link or links to catalogs on Todd's site is just like a link to a catalog thread on this site. The only catalogs worth scanning in my opinion are catalogs that nobody else has already put on-line somewhere. It's the information that matters, regardless of where it's hosted.Gordon_M wrote:Thanks

What Don said! Thanks for putting your collection somewhat at risk in the US Mail for the benefit of others. It is much appreciated!d42jeep wrote:That's great news. Re: A Cornucopia of Catalogs
Here's the Williams No. 303 that I mentioned on other threads. I'm not going to scan a bunch of pages because I'm pretty sure it's a 50's catalog, and this thing is in MINT condition, so I don’t even want to handle it too much. But it is interesting.
This same notice can be seen in the Williams 1943 catalog and it definitely smacks of wartime.
Like the Williams 1943 catalog, and other wartime catalogs (e.g., SK), I expected to see the entire catalog filled with red-lines and cross-outs and additional notices related to alloy restrictions. But that is not the case. On the other hand, it is filled with wartime federal specifications (“GGG-W-636”) and numbers that seem to be derived from hyphenless stock numbers (“41W10”), referred to as “military descriptions”, in red, reminiscent of the 1955 Fairmount catalog that Phil posted scans from.
Unfortunately, it also has references to MIL SPEC numbers…
…and the decals under the lids of the socket cases are post-war.
The only explanation I have for the notice is industry keeping that as a sort of general caveat during the Korean War.
