Here is my brush. It is made by Rubico and has horse hair bristles. It is stamped US ORD DEPT.

That's a really nice brush, Tin, with a terrific marking, and one I don't recall seeing before.

I posted an example of one marked with the fed spec number ("H-B-491a") and the size ("No. 5") specified for the GMTK at the end of the 1939 Fed Specs thread, which can be found here: viewtopic.php?p=1494395#p1494395
(A sort of ‘thread index’ for the 1939 Fed Specs can be found here: viewtopic.php?p=1485703#p1485703)

I used to think that was the best brush I had ever seen, due to it having the actual GMTK size marking on it, but Tin, yours with the "ORD DEPT" marking may now take the cake. Especially after finding this in the CPA MWSC books!

After seeing Tin's excellent example, the brush from my MVMTS is kind of ho hum but I haven't found one to replace it. Wingnutt sent me the brush with a broken handle and I had a handle on hand that was an exact fit. Here is the result.

But that ferrule and the marking on that ferrule is in exceptional condition Don. Nice brush!

I was not sure about this one, but pulled the trigger on it anyway. It is exactly 10 1/2" long, the bristle portion at the end is approximately 1 1/4" x 1 1/2" in oval shape with 2 1/2" length, it has the traditional shaped handle with the hole in the end, the metal ferrule is plated in a dull finish over the metal with three small rivets, has a rather yellowed with age shellac finish to it and is made using "pure bristles"

I'm interested to see what you think. I cannot find Worthington in any lists, so I am probably set with a filler brush not a fuller brush HA

Here is a copy of the Fed Specs posted by Wingnutt

From the Oct 42 and Apr 43 SNL N-19 (MVMTS), and the Dec 43 TM 10-475 (MVMTS):
“BRUSH, sash tool, oval, No. 5”

From the Jul 44 ORD 6 SNL G-27 (GMTS):
“BRUSH, sash tool, oval, No. 5, 1-7/16 x 1-1/6”

From the Oct 44 ORD 6 SNL G-27 (GMTS) and the Jul 45 ORD 6 SNL G-27 (GMTS):
“BRUSH, sash tool, oval, No. 5, 1-7/16 x 1-1/16 x 2-3/4

Thanks, perhaps a filler or might even work for KW display if anyone is doing that.

I'm still looking for a good branded example for the sash brush. I think mine was branded at one time, but only an illegible trace remains on the handle.
OAL measures 11" Brush profile is definitely oval.
